Pneumatic truck wheels from SPEEDLINE TRUCK boost bulk goods logistics

In bulk goods logistics, every kilogram of load counts – all the more so the shorter and more frequent the trips are. Bernd Specht from Wichmann Transporte did the maths. The freight forwarding company from Lienen in Westphalia now relies on SPEEDLINE TRUCK alloy wheels and moves up to an additional 200 tonnes per vehicle per year.

Wichmann Transporte is located in the north of North Rhine-Westphalia. The company specialises in silo and bulk goods transport and has made a name for itself in the region thanks to its reliability and flexibility. Wichmann trucks are regularly on the road in Germany, the Netherlands and Belgium. Competition in the triangle of nations is fierce. Wichmann Managing Director Bernd Specht must therefore constantly keep an eye on the efficiency and profitability of his fleet.

The new aluminium rims from SPEEDLINE TRUCK are a building block for the Wichmann freight forwarding company on the way to greater efficiency. The brand has been listed at Bohnenkamp since the summer of this year; its forged high-tech rims in the mirror and diamond surface finishes not only offer visual added value but also tangible economic benefits.

More payload thanks to lower weight

'The SPEEDLINE TRUCK alloy rims are not only beautiful to look at, they also save us 15 to 20 kilograms in weight per wheel and rim compared to conventional steel rims,' explains Bernd Specht. 'That doesn't sound like much at first, but if you extrapolate that to our entire fleet with 12 rims per vehicle, the savings are enormous.'

'The savings add up, and that pays off quickly.' Bernd Specht, Managing Director Wichmann Transporte

A Wichmann truck can make up to five trips a day. On 20 working days a month, significantly more load can be transported per silo or dumper over the year. This additional payload increases efficiency and significantly reduces costs. 'These savings add up, and that pays off quickly,' says Specht.

An elegant surface appearance is easy to clean and good for the image

Another effect of high-gloss truck wheel rims is often underestimated – the positive effect of a well-maintained truck on the workforce. Bulk goods logistics often involves difficult conditions – wind, dust, mud and rain are part of everyday life. This is where the mirror rims from SPEEDLINE TRUCK really shine, because after a quick wash the rims look like new again. The glossy appearance of the trucks not only looks good when delivering to customers but also contributes to employee satisfaction, as Managing Director Bernd Specht confirms from his own experience. He emphasises: 'Clean, well-maintained vehicles motivate our drivers and ultimately also help us to find and retain qualified staff.'

Long-standing partnership with Bohnenkamp and Windpower

Andreas Abeln, Bohnenkamp Area Manager for the North-West region, and Mark Sobiech, Key Account Management OEM - Truck & Trailer, paved the way for Wichmann Transporte's decision to choose the SPEEDLINE TRUCK brand. Both look after customers from the logistics sector at Bohnenkamp and have an eye on the Wichmann Transporte success story: 'The implementation of SPEEDLINE TRUCK aluminium rims at Wichmann Transporte is an impressive demonstration of how the right products and materials can make bulk goods freight forwarding more efficient. The weight savings of the indestructible aluminium rims enable more payload per trip and simultaneously increases employee satisfaction', Mark Sobiech confirms the experiences at Wichmann.

This investment in the future ensures that Wichmann Transporte can continue to act as a reliable partner in the field of silo and bulk goods transportation.

'The tread to the rim: Wichmann drives Windpower!

In another job story, we describe Wichmann boss Bernd Specht's experiences with the rugged treads of the Windpower W series.'
