Thomas Pott retires after more than four decades at Bohnenkamp

Bohnenkamp SE, a leading wholesaler of tyres and wheels for professional use, has bid farewell to its long-serving Head of Sales, Thomas Pott, as he retires. With his departure, the company is losing a figure who has played a decisive role in shaping and influencing Bohnenkamp over 43 years, both professionally and personally.

Pott’s career at Bohnenkamp began in 1983 as a commercial clerk – at a time when the company was still active exclusively in the agricultural sector and only in Germany. In the years that followed, he took on increasing responsibility: from establishing and managing key business divisions to assuming overall responsibility for sales. His commitment to expanding the original equipment division and further developing product and service offerings was particularly influential. He played a key role in establishing new business areas and shaped the structural and strategic direction of the sales department.

“Thomas Pott was a driving force, a visionary and a reliable point of contact all at once. He helped make this company what sets us apart today,” says Gregor Rüth, CEO of Bohnenkamp SE. “Many developments that we take for granted today bear his hallmark. For example, he played a key role in the development of IF/VF technology in the field of flotation.” “While the whole world was focusing primarily on tractors, Pott already had the foresight to question what actually lay behind the vehicles. In this and other areas, Bohnenkamp was able to surprise the market and was correspondingly successful.” For Pott, moreover, the focus was never solely on figures: “Reliability, long-term customer relationships and a collegial working atmosphere were core values for him. Many structures that are taken for granted today can be traced back to his way of working.”

Thomas Pott’s departure also leaves a huge gap in sales. “Thomas didn’t just lead the sales team; he set the standard. He always had a clear eye for what was essential, an open ear for the team and the ambition to always be one step ahead,” says Heiko Holthaus, Head of the Agricultural Division and a long-standing colleague of Thomas Pott. He adds: “Thomas was not only an outstanding Head of Sales, but also a valued person and colleague.”

Pott himself looks back on his time with great gratitude: “I am particularly proud that we have worked together to continuously develop Bohnenkamp. It was always about people. Building teams, supporting staff and finding solutions together – that was crucial for me.” What shaped him personally, he says, was the trust he always felt, which gave him a great deal of momentum: “Thank you to the Bohnenkamp family, the Board, my many colleagues, and also our customers and partners. Unfortunately, I was unable to say goodbye to all our customers in person, which I truly regret, and I ask for your understanding in this matter.”

With his retirement, a new chapter in Thomas Pott’s life now begins, offering him more time for family, personal interests and new horizons.

The Bohnenkamp Group thanks him for 43 years of commitment, loyalty and a sense of responsibility, and wishes him, above all, good health and many opportunities to enjoy new experiences in this new phase of his life. The company will provide information on succession arrangements in the coming weeks.
