Forklift washing - a clean issue for environmental protection

In 2019, Bohnenkamp AG purchased a mobile washing unit for forklifts. The system collects the wastewater and reprocesses it for the next cleaning process. Thanks to the recirculation system, Bohnenkamp has saved more than 100,000 litres of water in the past three years.

The forklift truck washing system from Bohnenkamp AG can be used on a mobile basis and recycles the water used. 100,000 liters have already been saved.

The approximately 100 electric forklifts in the central tyre logistics facility at Bohnenkamp headquarters are cleaned regularly. This increases operational reliability and supports value retention. "In addition, well-maintained machines naturally contribute to a positive overall image", Thomas Kettler knows. The Bohnenkamp logistics manager modified the cleaning of his forklift fleet three years ago and installed a cutting-edge washing system that saves water. It cleans the wastewater independently and feeds the treated water back into the cleaning cycle. Only every few months, the system itself needs to be cleaned and its filter residue disposed of. In return, the water savings are enormous. "We used to use about 50 litres of water to wash each forklift. With our 100 forklifts, the savings over time are clearly to be seen", emphasises logistics specialist Kettler.

Washing system with impressive sustainability performance

In total, Bohnenkamp has been able to save more than 100,000 litres of water since the resource-saving washing system was commissioned in May 2019. In view of this interim result, forklift cleaning makes an important contribution to resource-saving management. Bohnenkamp is pursuing further sustainability measures in the field of renewable energies. For example, 30 percent of the energy supply of Europe's leading wholesaler for commercial vehicle tyres comes from self-generated solar power. The company's administration building is also heated with geothermal energy.
