Record expedition reaches 6,694 meters on agricultural tyres
Alliance tyres took two expedition trucks to unprecedented heights in the Andes just before Christmas. At only 6,694 metres did man and material have to surrender to the volcano Ojo des Salados’ steep flanks. Bohnenkamp, primary distributor of Alliance tyres in Germany, supported the record tour as both sponsor and rim partner.

No wheeled vehicle has ever driven higher. This was confirmed by independent experts for the two expedition Unimogs in the Boxing week having evaluated all data, logbooks as well as photo and video recordings. While both vehicles jointly set a double world record at 6,685 metres above mean sea level, one of the two off-road vehicles even reached 6,694 metres on 13 December 2019. On their journey through the mountains, Matthias Jeschke’s team from the company Extrem Events successfully installed several emergency radio stations in the Argentine-Chilean border area.

The record-breaking Alliance A392 HD, a flotation tyre for heavy agricultural trailers, farm trucks, spreaders and similar vehicles, performed amazingly on the route. The route often led over sharp-edged lava stones, steep slopes, snow and ice, while temperatures fluctuated between -30°C and +35°C. Expedition leader Matthias Jeschke was enthusiastic about the Alliance A392 HD. "These tyre sets are the very best.  It was the perfect tyre technology for our mission and couldn’t be stopped by either rock or ice," explained Jeschke, who regularly plans routes through rough and undeveloped terrain for clients worldwide.

Together with Alliance Tire Europe, Bohnenkamp, as German sales partner, had equipped the expedition with the Alliance A392 HD high performance tyres in the size 24R20.5 176F TL. "Normally, the Alliance A392 HD delivers its top performance on agricultural heavy-duty vehicles, both on the field and on the road," explains Heiko Holthaus, head of the Agricultural Division at Bohnenkamp AG. In the Argentinean Andes, however, the Israeli manufacturer's tyre has now been able to fully demonstrate its excellent off-road characteristics, maximum stability and extremely low wear. The Alliance A392 HD also offers excellent value for money. It is available in Germany exclusively at Bohnenkamp.
